The Importance of Fat Digestion in Liver and Gallbladder Health
Death from liver diseases has risen by over 25% in the last decade with 1 in 10 people under the age of 40 dying from liver-related disease. In fact a simple build up of triglyceride fats within our liver cells causes one of the most common chronic and persistent liver disorder in the UK. Non-Alcohol Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is thought to occur in about 1 in 5 adults in the UK, and up to 4 in 5 adults who are obese. Urgent action needs to be taken to halt this rising trend of NAFLD.
Fatty liver syndrome was previously thought to occur with heavy and frequent alcohol consumption. However it’s now recognised that alcohol consumption is not the only cause for fat build up in hepatic cells. NAFLD includes a spectrum of liver disorders and in many cases is linked to being obese or overweight, a rising epidemic in the UK. Many people with developing fatty liver disorders have no symptoms but the problem is ticking away and non-diagnosis further delays any beneficial intervention. In some people the build-up of fat in the liver eventually leads to serious liver problems and everyone with NAFLD has an increased risk of developing cardiovascular problems such as heart attack and stroke.
NAFLD is a serious and rising health concern in the UK but there is very little awareness of this primary liver disorder. During this 1h Nutrigold webinar Dr Elisabeth Philipps will take you through liver and fat metabolism so you will understand the importance of a naturopathic approach to supporting liver and gallbladder health and fat metabolism. You will learn about:
